Labours of Leadership
How people think when it matters.
A quiet nod to the twelve labours of Hercules. The leader in the audience is the hero; I am the guide. Each talk takes on one labour.

I have spent years in operating theatres as a medical doctor and surgical assistant, and over 20 years coaching leaders. The theatre is an honest room: decisions are made under real pressure, in real time, as a team.
My talks bring what that room teaches to leaders and their teams, with a little science, a few stories and practical tools people use the next morning.
The talks
Judgement under pressure
What the operating theatre teaches about deciding well when the stakes are real.
Acedia at work
The 1,600-year-old name for burnout, and what actually helps.
The Second Pair of Hands
Why great leaders stop being the hero and start being the enabler.
Precision, not perfection
Moving decisively without the paralysis of getting everything right.
Formats
- Keynote (45 to 60 minutes)
- Half-day workshop
- Leadership retreat session
A song, if it fits
Singing can be an optional addition, shaped to the topic and the audience: an opening song the talk grows out of, short sung excerpts woven through to illustrate a point, or a close. Jazz ballads and standards only. Not part of every talk; organisers are welcome to ask.
