For over twenty years I have worked across four disciplines most people keep separate — neuroscience, psychology, medicine and surgery.
The through-line has always been the same question: what is the system beneath the way a person decides, and how do you refine it?
Twenty years, one pursuit.
I never set out to collect fields. Each one answered a question the last one raised. Neuroscience explained the hardware. Psychology explained the patterns running on it. Medicine showed me what the body does to the mind under load. Surgery taught me precision — and the cost of getting it wrong.
Somewhere along the way the separate careers stopped being separate. They became a single lens: a way of seeing the operating system beneath a person's decisions, and knowing which layer to work on when those decisions start to fail.
Every discipline I trained in turned out to be the same pursuit, approached from a different angle.
Beyond the measurable.
The science took me a long way. But it kept stopping at a threshold it could not cross — the part of a person that isn't neurological or psychological at all.
That is what led me to a Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies. Not a change of direction, but the next question: beyond cognition, beyond neuroscience, beyond the physical and the intellectual — what does it actually mean to be human? How do belief and faith shape the decisions people make, often without their knowing?
I studied it because it makes me better at this particular work. To read the whole operating system — not just the layer a scan can show you — you have to be willing to look at the part of a person the instruments never reach.
